Two men killed in fire at Moore County home

Two people were killed in a house fire Monday morning in Moore County.

CAMERON, N.C. — Two people were killed in a house fire Monday morning in Moore County.

After midnight, firefighters responded to a fire at a mobile home in the 1400 block of Union Church Road, near Carthage.

A person driving by reportedly saw the fire and called 911.

When firefighters arrived, the house was engulfed in flames. Two people were found dead in the home. The home was completely destroyed.

Union Church Road was blocked for more than five hours as crews worked to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Multiple agencies responded, including Carthage Fire & Rescue, Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Whispering Pines Fire Rescue, Eastwood Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Public Safety, the Moore County Sheriff's Office and the Carthage Police Department.
